A story about honesty

Once upon a time there was a poor man who could barely find sustenance in his day called Saleh, and he was in favor of a pious, ascetic wife called Aziza, and they had two young sons who adorned their worldly life. He did not provide an opportunity for him to work except when he worked, and Saleh was known among the people of Medina for his honesty and good manners, and one day Aziza came to complain to her husband that there was nothing in the house that the two hungry children would eat, and she asked him to go out wandering around the city hoping that God would make He has a way out to feed and water them. Salih shook his head in agreement and said: Well, my dear wife, I will go to pray two rak'ahs and pray to God with them, hoping that he will bless me, and I go on looking for work to eat from him.

Saleh went out to the mosque, and the noon prayer was ringing around the area. The man performed the noon prayer and remained seated praying to God to provide him with a decent and good livelihood, then he went out looking for work, and while he was walking in the market he found a bag made of cloth so he opened it to see what was in it and found it full of money. Saleh turned him and was amazed, filled it, then closed the bag and ran quickly to his wife calling her: Dear, dear, leave what is in your hand and come and look at what you brought immediately. Aziza came quickly and saw what Saleh was carrying in his hands, so I was astonished and asked him: Where did you get this from Saleh? ! Saleh told her the story and told her that he would go out to buy with some dirhams what his children could eat, and Aziza said firmly: No, by God, we will not take a dirham from him, Saleh, and how do we take money that we do not know from the owner! I forgot that we have not entered this house of a single forbidden penny since we got married! And that we pledged to build this house on the basis of halal livelihood! Go, my dear husband, find the owner of the bag and calculate your reward with God.

Saleh agreed to what his wife said, and went out sad and confused and heard a caller calling in the market: Whoever finds a bag with money in it, O people, who finds a bag with money in it, O people? Saleh said: I found it, man, but what is your evidence that it is yours? So the man said, and he seemed to be a merchant: My guide is that there is a thousand dirhams in it. The merchant smiled and said: Take the bag, honest man, and five times as much. Saleh was stunned and nailed in his place, then he asked him: Are you truthful in what you say ?? The merchant said: Yes, man, a wealthy man from the Levant gave me ten thousand dirhams and said to me: Put a thousand of them in a bag and throw it on the road, then go back and look for it. Money as a reward for your honesty. Congratulations.
